It was ok - no more; no less. beer was ... ok. I'm not a huge pilsner fan, but it was more the experience than the beer I was after. The service was typically Austrian, meaning don't look forward to a friendly greeting. I got the 1 litre for £4.77 the head on the beer had collapsed, revealing less than 1/2 a mug of beer. The monks screwed me!

Coffee shops

Alter Markt 9, Salzburg Old Town
Dating from the early 18th century, Tomaselli’s is the oldest café in Salzburg. It is worth a visit to see the traditionally dressed waitresses wheeling trolleys full of cakes, but it is not the cheapest or friendliest café in town.

220 GRAD

Chiemseegasse 5, Salzburg 5020, Austria
Of all the cafés I tried in Salzburg this I liked best! Cozy and always a lot of people, but still it doesn't get noisy. The ladies working there were very nice and accommodating. Coffee very good selections! Their cakes very tasty but small meny. Only thing that was not good was that there were no wi-fi.

Cafe Wurfelzucker

Griessgasse 13, Salzburg 5020, Austria
The chocolate with mint note is a dream, at least who like the cooling taste of mint. The berry strudel was unimaginably delicious.

 Cafe Sacher

Schwarzstrasse 5-7, Salzburg A-5020, Austria
enjoy a tasty dessert. In my case it was an amazing piece Apple Strudel and a cup of coffee. Both the Strudel and the view of Salzburg on the patio were wonderful. Prices are what you'd expect for high quality desserts.

Cafe Mozart

Getreidegasse 22, Salzburg 5020, Austria
The food like potato soup and potato dumpling were very good but not excellent. The Viennese coffee, Apfelstrudel and cheese strudel were heavenly.

We Love Coffee Mozartsteg

Ecke Mozartsteg | Mozartplatz o, Salzburg, Austria
I'm really a coffee junkie and drank coffee in a lot of countries - BUT - the coffee i drank ‪@ ‎welovecoffee is the most delicious coffee ever!!

Rudolfskai 38, Salzburg 5020 Salzburg, Austria
Headed here for a good coffee based on TA reviews and to get away from the crowds. Quiet place with a couple of tables and bar stools where you can see the river (over the road) from. Coffee (flat white) was full of flavour, smooth and quite strong. There is a range of coffees available and a range of bean options. There are also a selection of sweets. The brownie was excellent and slightly chewy.

Max-Ott-Platz 1, Salzburg, Austria
Excellent coffee, wine, food and staff! food was fresh and delicious and the servers friendly.

Cafe Konditorei Fuerst

Brodgasse 13, Salzburg 5020, Austria
large selection of pastries. You order the pastries at the counter and then order the coffee or drinks at the table. We each ordered a different type of cake so that we could taste each one. They were all excellent. The coffee and chocolates was also excellent.
