1. Banff

Banff National Park is the oldest national park in Canada, dating back to 1885 situated in the Rockies, Alberta. It is 6,641 km2. Full of mountainous terrain, containing glaciers and ice fields, forest, lakes, Moose (see below), Nut-cracker birds (see below) and the famous black bear!

2. Athabasca Falls

Athabasca Falls is in Jasper National Park. It is famous for being beautiful and very powerful, the force of this waterfall is famous as it draws vast quantities of water which then falls into a gorge.

3. Columbia Icefields

These are near the rockies in Banff National Park close to the border with Jasper National Park. covering a space of 325km and has 7meters of snow fall each year. The icefields contain glaciers on which you can take tours.


4. Hoodoos

The hoodoo's are shaped like totem poles and they are made of rock. They are soft rock at the bottom with harder rock at the top. They are usually found in hot dry areas like deserts. These ones are very near the dinosaur museum.

5. Lake Louise

Lake Louise is popular with hikers. It has great skiing areas in winter. The lake itself is very beautiful and bright turquoise.
